How do I factory reset a Minoston smart plug?

On our single-outlet plug lineup (MP21Z, MP21ZP, MP22Z, MP31Z family), the reset gesture is:

Press the button twice quickly, then press and hold the third press for about 10 seconds.

The status light blinks fast, then settles. The plug is now back to factory defaults and has left any Z-Wave network it was joined to.

Two things to know before you do it:

  • Reset also removes it from your hub. In most hubs the device turns into a dead node that you should delete manually afterwards.
  • Reset wipes custom parameters. If you changed LED behavior, auto-off timers or power reporting, note the values first. They are listed in your model’s manual.

If you only want to move the plug to a new hub, you do not need a full reset. Run exclusion from the old hub instead, which is gentler and keeps the device healthy.
