Only if the model is built for it. Our outdoor lineup is the **MP22Z** and the **MP22W family** (MP22W, MP22WP, MP22WH, MP22WD). Those are designed for outdoor receptacles, rated IP65 on the product page, and meant to be installed on a covered, GFCI-protected outlet.

Indoor plugs (MP21Z, MP21ZP, MP24Z, MP31Z and similar) are for indoor use. They will physically work outside for a while, but rain, UV and temperature swings will kill them, and the warranty does not cover that.

Two practical points for outdoor installs:

- **Mount it under cover.** “Outdoor rated” means it tolerates weather, not that it should sit in standing water or a direct downpour.
- **Range matters more outside.** If the outlet is far from the house, an 800 series model with a compatible controller gets you Z-Wave Long Range, which is the difference between a stable link and one that drops every storm.
